Where are you in your ability to relax? If you have been reading this blog , you are becoming an expert. Not only that, but you are lowering blood pressure, reducing stress, releasing inner tension and so giving yourself the gift of natural
healing. You hold within you the key to your radiant health. If you are not there now, you now
have what it takes to relax yourself even more. Once you do, you will know what you need to heal. Most of the time what you need is to do less and be more. You are not your stress. Nor are you the thoughts that are causing you to feel stressed
out. If you have made it this far, you have learned how to let go, breathe, get moving and be here
now. You have been given a key to create radiant health. What else would you like to create? In
order to move forward into creating the life you want, you must first be relaxed. Otherwise, as
you attempt moving into life, or, as Martha Beck calls it, moving from being a caterpillar to a
crysalis, you run the risk of burnout or overwhelm.

Once integrated, mind, body and spirit will
guide you and support you in the direction of healing and you will gain clarity as to how and be
given the power to spread your wings. Your work from this point on is to continue grounding
yourself and to use the exercises provided by signing up here to receive simple guidance delivered to your inbox on how to relax even more, in an instant. As you do so, your work will continue
to be revealed to you, also the path will open up for you to soar. Keep clearing you energy in
order to awaken to greater radiance within and all around you.

Relaxation is the key to radiant well-being. It starts where you are, in the here and now, but learning to let go. I am going to continue this thought on a new blog, you can access here:
new location where you will find recipes, inspiration, and guidance on creating a radiant life from the inside out. Sign up for the Create Radiance newsletter here and receive a free Relax Your Way to Radiant Health 7 day e-course for meditations, exercises and techniques to give you stress relief in an instant.

You may be reading this because you have gone gluten free due to a health condition, or a current trend in dietary theory led you to discovering the impact that going gluten free can have on your life. Any information you are reading here comes from personal experience, along with research I have done on gluten free living. I suffered with ill health for many years, and was in a healing crisis when I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy. Besides that, I could not hold on to weight, my blood sugar was all over the place, I had severe anxiety followed by depression and finally had a series of seizures. All of this and I still did not get it, neither did doctors. I was told “anorexic”, after having no problem consuming as much food as possible. I spent an exorbitant amount of time and energy on trying to find foods that agreed with me, and I settled on soy and a grain based diet, only to discover I was allergic to soy, and many of the foods I was eating. No wonder for the strange health conditions which seemed to be popping up all over the place!

Then I ran into an ex-boyfriend, who, when we were together, liked his beer and hangovers, while I was a bulimic in action. Together, we suffered silently separately, but came together and thrived on the possibility of not having to be alone and miserable. He had been diagnosed celiac, and told me about his recovery process. At the time, I was severely underweight, and still trying to figure out the food. And then…I cut out gluten. My symptoms went away, my weight normalized, and I found a way of eating that worked for me.

Here is how I went gluten free.

1. I cut out gluten.
2. I felt better.
3. I felt much better.
4. I learned to cook without gluten.
5. I felt free around food, less moody and compulsive, grounded with a flow in my spine.
6. I continue to feel better following a gluten free lifestyle, which does not include restricting the delicious options available.

The rest is history. Every day, I create, convert and customize recipes that fit in with the gluten free living. Some work, some need work, but there is always room for more gluten free options in the world. I am currently offering a Chi Bar–a gluten free, dairy free, soy free, sugar free energy bar that is spreading like wildfire. If you want to learn more, or order one or a dozen, email me @ waller@createradiance.com

Stay tuned for my new website, coming out in the next week, which will offer gluten free guides, guidance, recipes, relaxation techniques–a sort of healing reservoir for recovering your health from an addiction, stress condition, or life in general.

Step into the here and now. Every ounce of you is welcome here, especially the uncomfortable parts of you. If you are struggling with your weight, fighting an eating disorder or an addiction, stressed out by your work or relationship, it may seem like a chore to relax these days. I don’t blame you for not wanting to sit still, because the discomfort may seem so overwhelming that the idea of relaxing is not even in sight or on your mind. I can relate to this, indeed and experience a similiar sensation when I make an appointment to go have a massage when I really need it, and then the time comes and I am alright and at ease.

Relaxation is the key to optimal wellbeing. It is vital to spend your day in a state of relaxation for your body to heal, grow, develop, process, detoxify and regulate itself from the inside out. If you are not relaxing enough, you may be stressed out and feel like you are out of control. You may have more issues than you feel like you deserve, and at the same time be unable to shake off things that are bothering you. If any of this soudns familiar, I invite you to be with me here now and relax as you are, and take some of what you are learning here into your daily life.

Do you agree with me that you need to breathe in order to live? And that one breath leads to the next breath, and on and on, but that the deeper you breathe, the easier it is to relax? So, focusing on your breath is an exclellent way to relax in the here and now. The breath can guide you out of your mind, or stress and drop you down into a state of being.

Here is a breathing exercise to calm anxiety.

Four-Seven-Eight Breath

Best done sitting but can be done standing or lying down.

1. Sit with your back straight and your hands resting comfortably in your lap or on your thighs.

Look straight ahead, yet try not to fix your gaze on anything in particular. Slightly closing your eyes helps.

Try to focus internally on your breathing.

All inhalations are done through your NOSE; all exhalations through your MOUTH.

Throughout the exercises keep the tip of your tongue in contact with the top of your mouth, just behind your top teeth.

2. Commence inhaling slowly, smoothly and deeply to a mental count of 4 seconds. Fill your lower lungs first (by pushing out your abdomen), then your middle and upper lungs.

Hold your breath for a mental count of 7 seconds.

Slowly and smoothly exhale for a mental count of 8 seconds.

As you exhale, try to let go of all your anxiety, tension & stress.

That’s one round. Pause briefly without inhaling then start another round. This natural pauseis very therapeutic and relaxing.

Do 10-12 rounds to begin. Build up to 25-30 rounds several times a day AND whenever you feel anxious or nervous, etc.

Summary: Inhale for 4 seconds – Hold for 7 seconds – Exhale for 8 seconds – Pause briefly – Repeat.

Benefits

Calms your mind

Tones your nervous system

Regulates your breathing

Balances your emotions

Tips

Can be done anywhere – on a bus, in a line, at work, before a test

If you lose your breath, stop, breathe freely then try again

With practice your pauses between rounds will naturally get longer

Soothing music or ear plugs can help reduce external distractions

Get present to your own life. How true is it really that there is anything wrong with you in the here and the now? Who is telling you that you need to be a size other than you are. If you know for sure you are carrying extra weight, set that aside for now. In order to get to where you want to be, you have to travel through where you are, and that includes, taking responsibility for everything that you are in this moment now. Show up for yourself. Here is an exercise to ground you in the here and the now. I recommend trying this if you are struggling with negative body image–a red flag that you are not inhabiting your body.
I invite you to be in your body as it is now. Try this series of exercises, focusing on the breath and the sensation of being in the body. In order to connect the mind and the body, it is important that you are open to receive the breath and feel safe breathing into every nook and cranny of you. Through these exercises, you will be guided naturally to breath more efficiently, thereby inhabiting the body.As you practice, you may notice yourself moving through feelings, especially anxiety and with time and a bit of practice, more positive and comfortable in your own skin than before. I recommend practicing this series, which I embellish upon throughout the book, first thing in the morning. If you are struggling in your recovery or if you are just renewing a commitment to your health, you may practice this as many times throughout the day, especially before meal time.
A Feel-Good Daily Energy Routine

This is a great warm-up to your day, or to an activity that you already do. Allow yourself to add these exercises in for a few days, and notice the impact. The purpose of these exercises is to stretch and create space in the body, clear toxins, maintain positive energy habits to optimize health and vitality, and reprogram deep-seated energetic patterns in your body and mind. This should take no longer than 5 minutes, once you understand the exercises.

Three Thumps
(30 Seconds)

By tapping these specific points, you can activate a series of responses that will restore you when you are tired, increase your vitality, and keep your immune system strong amid stress. Don’t be concerned about perfecting the location of the points, if you use several fingers in the vicinity described, you will hit the right spot .

Thump #1: k-27 points
Place the pointer finger of each hand on your collarbone and move your hands toward one another until you reach the inside corners of your collarbone. Drop straight down from these points to en inch below your collarbone. Breathe slowly and deeply as you firmly tap your K-27 points for 2-3 deep breaths.

Thump #2: Tarzan Points

1. Place the fingers of either or both hands in the center of your sternum, at the thymus gland, 2 inches below the K-27 points in the center of your chest.
2. Using your thumb and all your fingers as you tap firmly, breathe slowly and deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth for 2-3 deep breaths.

Thump #3: Spleen Points:

1. Tap the neurolymphatic points, tender point just below the center of the breasts on the rib-cage.
2. Breathe slowly and deeply, in through your nose and out your mouth, as you tap, for 2-3 deep breaths.

Cross Crawl
(30 seconds)

The cross crawl is simple as marching in place, and facilitates the crossover of energy between the brain’s right and left hemispheres.

1. Briskly tap the K-27 points.
2. While standing, lift your right arm and left leg simultaneously.
3. As you let them down, raise your left arm and right leg.
4. Repeat, this time exaggerating the lift of your leg and the swing of your arm across the midline to the opposite side of your body.
5. Continue in this exaggerated march for at least a minute, again breathing in deeply through your nose and out through your mouth.

Wayne Cook Posture

1. Sitting in a chair with your spine straight, place your right foot over your left knee. Wrap your left hand around the front of your right ankle and your right hand over the ball of your right foot.
2. Breathe in slowly, letting the breath lift your body as you breathe in, at the same time, pulling your leg toward you and as you exhale, breathe out your mouth slowly, letting your body relax.
3. Switch to the other foot and repeat using the same breathing.
4. Uncross the legs and “steeple” your fingertips, bring your thumbs to rest on the “third eye”. Breathe in slowly and out through the mouth 3-4 times,.
5. On the last exhalation, curl your fingers into the middle of the forehead and separate them, firmly and pleasantly, pulling across your forehead to your temples.
6. Slowly bring your hands down in front of you. Surrender into your own breathing.

Crown Pull
(30 seconds)

1. Place your thumbs at your temples on the sides of your head. Curl your fingers and rest your fingertips a the center of your forehead.
2. Slowly, and with some pressure, pull your fingers apart so you stretch the skin above your eyebrows.
3. Rest your fingertips at your hairline and repeat the stretch.
4. Continue this pattern with your fingers curled, pushing in at each of the following locations:
a. Fingers at top of head, little fingers at hairline.
b. Fingers over curve at back of head
c. Fingers at the bottom of head
d. Pull to sides of neck with 3 passes (top of neck, middle, bottom)
e. Pull fingers firmly forward over tops of shoulders and let them drop

Zip-Up
(20 seconds)
When you are feeling sad or vulnerable, the central meridian can be like a radio receiver that channels other people’s negative thoughts and energies into you. The Zip-Up can help you think more clearly and protect yourself from negative energies.

1. Briskly tap the K-27 points for a couple of full, deep breaths.
2. Place your hand or hands at your pubic bone.
3. Take a deep breath as you simultaneously move your hands slowly and with deliberation straight up the center of your body to your lower lip.
4. Bring your hands past your lips and exuberantly raise them into the sky as you connect your central meridian with your aura and forces that are beyond you.
5. Turn your palms upward and, slowly releasing your breath, extend your arms out to the sides as far as they will go and back down to your pubic bone.
6. Repeat three times.

Hook-up
(15-20 seconds)
This is a powerful tool for centering. It increases coordination and stabilizes energies, including energies that surround you. Breathe in through your nose and out the mouth as you perform this exercise.

1. Place the middle finger of one hand on your third eye.
2. Place the middle finger of the other hand in your navel.
3. Gently press each finger into your skin, pull upward and hold for 15-20 seconds.

Fall is the time of year when the sweet taste is in season. You may notice yourself craving more sweets, and also be aware of the foods that are starting to be in season are round, sweet foods (ie apples, onions, squashes)
It is important to keep yourself fed with the sweet taste, so that you are satisfied and not at risk to eat the gallon of ice cream or box of cookies. The tips below are certain to heal your body and calm your mind to continue living a sweet life.

5 Steps for Beating Sugar Cravings:

1.	Eat Whole Grains and sweet vegetables.
2.	Chew Well
3.	Give up restricting yourself and pick up enjoying life.
4.	Try natural sweeteners (see below)
5.	Be patient with yourself. Love yourself. Spend time with sweet people.

Natural Sweeteners

Maple syrup is an excellent substitute for sugar. It is high in trace minerals like zinc and manganese, which can assist in heart health and in balancing cholesterol levels. The light “Grade A” or “Number 1 can contain formaldehyde runoff from the first extraction of the syrup under certain processing conditions. All the other grades are safe, but Grade C (the darkest amber syrup) is the best.

Honey is another item that’s often presented as a healthy alternative to refined sugar, but it is sometimes controversial. People who react to sugar as a “brain allergy” (especially common in children, for whom it can trigger ADD/ADHD symptoms) may react to honey the same way. It is high glycemic, and hits the body as a hard sweet. Raw, unpasteurized honey is rich in elements which can help with wound healing, kill bacteria, soothe sore throats and digestive upset, and decrease local allergy symptoms. Honey is also sweeter than sugar by volume, so you need less in baking or cooking.

Agave is a sweetener extracted from a South American cactus, and traditionally used to make tequila. Often called “honey water,” the agave nectar or agave syrup is light, both in taste and colour. It is runnier than honey and tastes much milder, but is in fact sweeter so even less is required in cooking. Agave is extraordinarily low glycemic – it has almost no impact on blood sugar, making it an ideal sweetener for diabetics and those who are sensitive to sugars.

Blackstrap molasses is a sweetener that is actually good for you. Unlike refined white sugar and corn syrup, which are stripped of virtually all nutrients except simple carbohydrates, or artificial sweeteners like saccharine or aspartame, which not only provide no useful nutrients but have been shown to cause health problems in sensitive individuals, blackstrap molasses is a healthful sweetener that contains significant amounts of a variety of minerals that promote your health.

Brown rice syrup is a liquid sweetener with the consistency of honey. It can be substituted for honey in baking. It has a unique caramel-like flavor that can be used to enhance a recipe, but it will disappear if used sparingly in a recipe. Brown rice syrup metabolizes slowly but does have calories and carbohydrates. Diabetics and low-carb dieters should use it with caution. Brown rice syrup is considered to be one of the healthiest sweeteners in the natural food industry, since it is produced from a whole food source and is made up of the simple sugars.

Foods to emphasize:

•	Whole Grains
•	Beans
•	Miso
•	Sweet Vegetables: Carrots, onions, winter squash, cabbage
•	Brown rice mochi

Snack Ideas

•	Dates stuffed with almond or walnut
•	Apple with nut butter
•	Rice cake with agave, jam or brown rice syrup
•	Tea with molasses
•	Carrots with hummus
•	Handful of almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds

Recipes for Radiance

Azuki-Squash-Kombu
Makes 4 servings

Soaking time: 8 hours or over night
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 2 + hours

Ingredients:

1 cup azuki beans, washed, and soaked in 2 cups water

1 cup hard winter squash (such as butternut, buttercup or kabocha), cut in large cubes

1-inch square piece of kombu

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

water

parsley, chopped, for garnish

•Place the kombu on the bottom of a heavy pot.
•Add the soaked beans with soaking water and, if necessary add enough water to just cover the beans.
•Bring to a boil over a medium flame. When it comes to boil, cover the pot, reduce the flame to low, and simmer for 1 hour.
•Add a little water occasionally, as needed, to keep the beans just covered. Do not add too much water, as the less water there is the more rich the flavor of the beans will be.
•After 1 hour, place the squash on top of the azukis, re-cover the pot and continue simmering 1 hour more. The beans and squash should both be very tender at this point.
•Add the salt by sprinkling over the top of the beans and squash. Stir salt in a little, very gently so as not to break up the squash piece, and cook 15 minutes more, uncovered to reduce the liquid. If there is still a lot of water after 15 minutes you can continue simmering uncovered as long as you like, just keep the flame very low and check regularly to make sure it does not scorch.
•Serve hot garnished with parsley.

Leftovers will keep refrigerated up to 3 days.

From now on, I am going to post what I am creating in the kitchen. I am working on a cookbook that I hope to have complete before Christmas of this year, which features many of my recipes, as well as inspiration on how to create a low-impact, stress-free, relaxed lifestyle in our hectic world.

Today’s menu incuded:

sweet potatoe chips with avocado

raw cacao nib truffles

raw energy bars

frothy milk with cinammon

dates with almond butter

gluten free spinach pasta with broccoli

dairy free chocolate almond brownie soy ice cream

I am attempting to eat intuitively, and a bit over indulging these days. I see it all in divine order, and when I am ready, I will eat more balanced and relax into it. It took a while to put on weight after years of being less than healthy, and now that I have, I am attempting to find comfort within, and allow the food to take care of itself. I feel compelled to share the recipes that I created in the process of growing up and teaching myself to cook and nourish myself. It was quite the process-of restriction, overeating, bulimia, weight struggles, food obsessions and relationship struggles.

What I know is true:

Food is energy, and there is no need to worry about what, why, when or how we feed ourselves.

Friends are fuel, and it is important to be conscious of who you spend your time with, and how. Take time to enjoy your friends, and appreciate your life. Take time out of your day to acknowledge yourself by taking some deep + conscious breaths.

There is more. A lot more life to be lived. I am no longer missing out on life due to my body being less than perfect. I am grateful for having earned the right to take care of myself and am honored to be able to inspire a shift in creating recipes for radiant well being.

So, after a few weeks of the farmer’s market, and autumn upon the horizon, I have been cleaning out and re-assessing for the direction I want to head for the next segment of time. The changing of the seasons is an ideal time to clean out–the closets, the car, the finances, kitchen and relationships–and discover what you want to keep with you and what you can live without. I always recall the sensation of Noah’s Ark as the animals head on the ship 2-by-2, I think of who and what I would bring with me if the ship was going down, as well as what I can leave behind. I tend to freely let go of things, and so each season I am keenly aware of how little I have and the freedom that living simply and taking care of myself enables me.

I have overcome a lot in my life–anorexia, bulimia, depression, anxiety, a severe addiction to food, and now I recognize each day, each moment as an opportunity to feel healthy and happy and I take it upon myself to do so. I have learned that I don’t always know what’s right for me. I have discovered that I am not in control of much, but I can control what I think of myself, how I treat myself, and that my thoughts impact my reality in all areas. I have found it is best to not have secrets, and even better to let people in to get to know you. I am learning the hard way how much I love people and how much better it is to spend time with friends than isolate.

I have many goals and prayers for the next segment of my life.

Here are just a few that I am putting out there, and hope to come to fruition.

1: Sleep in peace every night.

2: Launch a line of energy bars and raw chocolate

3: Complete cookbook: Recipes for Radiance by December 2009t y

4: Become a Pure Barre instructor

5: Spend more time “being” in a state of relaxation

What do you want for the fall? What are you ready to let go of? I want to challenge you to put your goals out there. Expose your mission. Let people know what you are working towards and ask for help along the way. You may be surprised how people who have what you want are willng to help pass along their secret. Seek out mentors. Spend time with people who have what you want and become the person you want to be. Learn to love what you see in the mirror. Honor yourself in process, how far you’ve come and how blessed you are in this moment now and trust that the best is yet to come.

Namaste,

Waller

I am en route to recording my life for all to see. Here is my day, the beginning of the rest of my life.

I awake feeling well, healthy and happy. One would think not so based on how much I consumed during the night, but I am learning to love myself no matter what. Sometimes that comes through the most unusual route, and I need to feel like I am bad in order to feel uniquely myself.

I have certain rituals that I stick with no matter what. Most every morning, I spend my time from 6 or 7 until 8 am in this way:

1–Awaken to thank God, for friends, family and the ability to breathe and create my day!

2–Tongue Scraping–releases toxins from yesterday and prepares the palate to recieve a whole new day!

3–Splashing face with cold water 20 x–I don’t even wash my face! This is an ancient beauty secret and is divinely refreshing!

4–Drink warm water, take supplements. My current supplement of choice is rhodiola: “shown to help improve declining work performance, sleep problems, lack of appetite, irritability, headaches, and fatigue which were the result of intense physical or intellectual stress. Other research confirmed improved cognitive function, a stronger immune system, enhanced athletic performance, and reduced stress.”

5–Donna Eden’s Feel Good Energy Routine, which you can access here

6–Tibetan Yoga Rites

7–Put breakfast on the stove…

For the next 3 weeks, I am going to post everything I am eating. There seems to be a trend when I eat, which is to create a recipe, eat really well, enjoy it, and keep creating delicious meals that are never the same. Upon the outside looking in, you may think I get bored eating a dairy-free, soy-free, egg-free, gluten free (due to allergies). It actually offers me more flexibility and less overwhelm when I go to the market.

Starting tonight, before bed, I had raisins and a banana and hemp butter and a bit of avocado all mashed together. As well I had a raw cacao madeleine. From an energetic perspective, I was definitely craving to relax, since I have been having trouble sleeping recently. There is nothing wrong with relaxing with a bit of food, but sometimes I feel like I need more than a bit to get me through. We’ll see if there is a trend here throughout the next 3 weeks.

These days my hunger seems quite larger than it should be, but in the aftermath, I allow myself to take it all in, and not worry about the food or trying to fix my body. Being in recovery from anorexia and bulimia, this feels like a foreign concept. So when I eat more than I should, I remind myself that compulsive eating is a temporary condition and eventually I will get sick of it. Lately, I am not sure if I will ever finish eating and let people in on what I am eating, but I am starting to shed light on it just a bit, by making myself aware of what I am eating, making it delicious just because and truly enjoying it. Perhaps if I make it so delicious, I won’t need as much of it and I will want to share more of the good inside of me with the world in which I live. Eating disorders are so not about the food, but about a relationship to life. How are you living? I realize I have lived a small, and limited life for a long time, and I am ready to come out stronger than ever before and live a delicious life.

Here goes the adventure of breaking free by cooking my way through and to a life I love and the love of my life: health, happiness and freedom from an obsession with my weight and food. I can and will break free and use my power and creativity wisely. I love to cook and I cook what I love. Thanks for listening! Stay tuned for some delicious recipes!

So it’s after 4 am and I’ve just had 5 Madeleines, 2 avocados, 1 cup of raisins and more hemp butter. Not sure what I am storing up for, but I do know that the best is yet to come and eventually I will not be needing all of this food! The process of gaining weight can be painful, so can learning to be a person of moderation! I trust that I am doing the best I can, learning my lessons, however sometimes painfully, and creating a healthy and happy life. I pray for the willingness to forgive myself and to create space for more life and love to be delivered through me and to share my recipes for this delicious life. Every day in every way, life is getting better and better and I am blessed simply because I exist! No more needing to weigh a certain amount for love, and I am giving up an era of using food to feel loved. It has been quite a road to get here, and while I acknowledge I have made many mistakes, I have needed to feel the pain in order to overcome the struggle and to reach out towards a better life. I am committed to inspire you to taste this delicious life through recipes, prayers and joyful living. Thanks for reading, listening and keeping me inspired to continue exploring and evolving on my mission to create a radiant life.

I am heading away for a 5 day silent solo retreat. This is a necesary break to get quiet and still, to find my center and listen.

In taking retreat, it is important to not take too much to do (including books or cell phones or computers), but to take the time to go within and to listen to the voice of the Soul that is always there.

A retreat can be done in your own space as well. You don’t have to take 5 days, nor do you have to go on vacation to get quiet. It takes a conscious commitment to getting quiet, which can be done in the evening before bed, in the morning, or over a certain time period. I like ot take the 2 hours before bed as “me time”, where I am not on the phone or on the computer. If I do any reading, it is in spiritual literature, and the writing I do is relaxing and peaceful. I try not to look into too many issues, but use time as introspective, and to listen for clarity or ask for guidance. The time before bed, as well as in the morning upon awakening, is a time when your subconscious mind will be talking to you.

If you have a question, ask it when you are quiet and still. If you are having trouble trusting yourself, take some time to write. Take the mornings and evenings to listen, to go within, to be with yourself.

I challenge you over the weekend to spend more time in silence than usual. Also, notice the conversations you are having with yourself and with others. You may notice a similiar pattern, and are you speaking about things that you want to bring about in your life? Your word is you wand–and the most important avenue to creation in your life. So, if you are ruminating on the past, or trying to figure out the future, you may be holding yourself back from the life that is being lived through you.

Go within. Seek stillness. Listen to your Soul. Come out and share the light and love that you are cultivating within and discover that you have the power within you to create radiance.

Affirmations for stillness:

With every breath I take, I am getting healthier and healthier.

I listen to my Soul’s guidance and trust the process.

I have a right to spend time alone and with God.

I spend time alone each day listening and reflecting upon my life.

Namaste,

Waller
