Torma
Do you have a pain in your body that just doesn’t seem to go away?
Is your neck continually tight, or do you seem to be wearing your shoulders as earrings?
Perhaps you notice the same knot in your back and the only thing that seems to calm you down is hitting the pillow after a long day. I was recently introduced to an ancient Tibetan healing tool, called a torma. A torma is also referred to as an “offering” or a “ritual cake”. The word literally translates to mean: tor– “to throw out” and ma is a feminie ending, which evokes a maternal, nururing quality. (Men, don’t be scared, the feeling of the torma is like having a woman take the pain away!)
To make a torma: take barley flour, unbleached all-purpose flour into a bowl.
Mix water in to make a dough ball, that is relatively soft, yet not sticky.
Place the torma on your area, or many areas of tension.
Feel the chi circulating as the energy moves through and out of your body.
Be sure to dispose of the torma after use,
and perhaps say a little prayer that the pain be relieved and for you to get out of your own way enough to be available to other people.
